The following suggestions may ease nervousness in children (and adults) who may be reluctant about having Saint Nicholas VISIT at home. If, after reading this information, you have questions or comments, please use the contact us' link at the bottom of the page.
A tough decision to make… After all the planning is done and the excitement builds for Santa’s visit, there’s one very important detail to keep in mind. To help Santa stay healthy and continue bringing joy to all the families on his schedule, please make sure guests are well.
Santa cannot visit with children or adults who are coughing, have runny noses, or show any obvious signs of being unwell. We kindly ask hosts to screen guests ahead of time and share this reminder so there are no surprises or uncomfortable conversations during the visit.
If these precautions are not followed, Santa may need to end the visit early to protect his health and the magic of the season. Thank you for helping us keep the holidays merry and bright for everyone!
Helpful Tips for Adults...
When very young children (around ages 2–3) first see Santa make his grand entrance, they can sometimes feel overwhelmed and seek comfort from an adult. While it’s natural to want to scoop them up, please resist the urge to pick them up during Santa’s visit. Instead, kneel down, offer calm words, and let them feel safe at their own pace.
If a child becomes very upset and cannot be calmed, it may be best to gently remove them from the room for a short break. Otherwise, allow hesitant children to watch from a distance. Often, when they see others enjoying Santa, they will slowly build courage on their own.
Encourage a shy child once, but avoid repeated coaching—Santa has his own magical way of winning over trust, sometimes with just a fleeting moment on his knee. Most reluctant little ones warm up naturally as the visit unfolds, and Santa always takes care to notice and respond gently to their needs.
